Edit PDF
Add text, shapes, highlights, lines, arrows, and cover boxes to a PDF locally in your browser. Experimental: it adds new content on top of your pages and does not directly edit existing PDF text.
This tool adds new content on top of your PDF. It does not reflow or directly edit existing PDF text.
Your PDF is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded anywhere.
Your files stay on your device. Processing happens locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- Select your PDF — drag it into the drop zone or click to browse.
- Pick a tool — text, shapes, highlights, arrows, or a cover box — and place it on the page.
- Adjust position, size, and color until it looks right; undo steps back a change.
- Download the edited PDF.
Why local processing?
Edit PDF processes your file inside your browser, on your own device. Your document is not uploaded to our servers. The browser may download code needed to run the tool, but those requests do not contain your file.
Check it yourself: open your browser’s network tab while a file is being processed — your document never appears in any request.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my PDF uploaded while I edit it?
- No. The editor renders your pages and saves your annotations locally in the browser. At no point does the network tab show your document being transferred.
- Is there a file size limit for editing?
- Each file can be up to 200 MB. Processing happens in your browser and also depends on available memory. Large or complex files may be slow or exceed your device’s resources even below this limit.
- Can I annotate GDPR-sensitive documents?
- Editing happens without any server-side component, so annotating a confidential document does not expose it to anyone.
- Can I change the existing text of the PDF?
- No. This experimental tool layers new content on top of the page — it does not directly edit existing PDF text. You cannot click a paragraph and retype it.
- Is a cover box a safe way to hide sensitive information?
- No. A cover box only changes what the page looks like; the content underneath may still be present in the file and extractable. It is not true redaction — do not rely on it for confidential data.
- What can I add to a page?
- Text notes, shapes, highlights, lines, arrows, and cover boxes — with undo while you work.
