Word to PDF

Convert a Word document (.docx) to PDF locally in your browser. Best-effort conversion with selectable text — paragraphs, headings, lists, and inline images convert, but complex Word layouts may look different and fonts are substituted. Legacy .doc files are not supported.

Your files stay on your device. Processing happens locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Select your .docx file — drag it into the drop zone or click to browse.
  2. Start the conversion; the document is parsed and laid out on your device.
  3. Review the advisory notes about any features that were simplified.
  4. Download the finished PDF with real, selectable text.

Why local processing?

Word to PDF processes your file inside your browser, on your own device. Your document is not uploaded to our servers. The browser may download code needed to run the tool, but those requests do not contain your file.

Check it yourself: open your browser’s network tab while a file is being processed — your document never appears in any request.

Frequently asked questions

Is my Word document uploaded for conversion?
No. The .docx is unzipped, parsed, laid out, and turned into a PDF entirely inside your browser. If you inspect the network tab during a conversion, no request carries your document.
What is the size limit?
Each file can be up to 200 MB. Processing happens in your browser and also depends on available memory. Large or complex files may be slow or exceed your device’s resources even below this limit.
Can I convert GDPR-sensitive Word files?
There is no server-side conversion service behind this tool — the file stays in the browser tab, which is exactly why it suits confidential documents.
Will the PDF look identical to Word?
Not always — this is an experimental, best-effort converter. Paragraphs, headings, bold/italic, lists, images, and page setup convert well; tables are flattened, and headers, footers, footnotes, text boxes, and charts are simplified or reported as warnings.
Can it convert old .doc files?
No. The legacy binary .doc format is not supported — re-save the file as .docx in Word or LibreOffice first. Password-protected files are also refused.
Is the output real text or an image?
Real text. The PDF contains selectable, searchable text set in standard fonts — it is not a screenshot of the document.
